Hi,

Welcome. You probably don't know me, so let me introduce myself. I'm Angela, and I'm a writer. I called this site accidental poet because I didn't really grow up saying 'when I grow up I want to be a poet.' I did want to write, but I wanted to write prose. During my MA we were encouraged to send work out and I found a few local publishers were interested in publishing my poems. Then, I found a publisher for a body of work I'd written, called Strip. I found myself focusing on poetry for quite a while. I gave up on prose.

Recently, I read the Julia Cameron book and found myself reviving my dream of wanting to write stories. I love writing short stories again, and am loving learning about flash fiction. It's fun. It's scary! I don't know where to send it and what to do with it when I've written something, but I'm hoping to find out, and am hoping to learn and become a better writer. I still write poetry sometimes. One day I'll go back to the poems in the drawer to finish and try to place. Not just now though. Right now I'm starting from the ground up, writing stories and just seeing if ...Writing is a lot of if's, if my work is any good, the writer thinks, if I can find someone to publish it, if anyone enjoys it, if I'm popular. There are a lot of real world concerns to stop an unknown writer getting to that desk. Yep, I know them, don't we all? The only trick I have up my sleeve is this-

Write, always, regardless.
